A long time ago, on a planet far, far, away, I was a working pro musician. No, not a big time recording artist, all though I was in a band that cut a record and toured in 1969, but someone who played dance clubs, on the road.
By 1981, my career as an advertising photographer was showing promise, so I sold my beloved Ovation guitar and drum set so I could get "serious" about my photography business.
Fast forward 27-years. To this day, I still have that streak of musician in me. I've purchased a couple of guitars over the years, but they we cheapies, that didn't really cut it to really have fun playing.
Last week I decided, it was time. So I went to Guitar Center to replace my long lost Ovation guitar. I found one I liked. It was an exceptional deal.
The staff at Guitar Center was great. They did what I asked as far as modifications, made recommendations and created a great buying experience.
Here it is just one week later. Lo and behold, my guitar sales guy, David Garcia, called to make sure I was really happy with the purchase. We talked guitars, the pain of starting to play again, and music. He made me feel a real connection with the store.
All he did was ask if I was happy. That was all it took to make me a Guitar Center fan. Caring is THAT powerful.
