A Lesson From the Aretha Franklin School of Business

Franklin_aretha I recently purchased a health insurance policy from Assurant Health. I actually found them through Bank of America.

Assurant provided everything I was looking for in health insurance. They listened, they heard me and provided a policy that made sense to me.

Then I started receiving calls from Blackstone Marketing Research in Chicago. They asked me to provide them with feedback on my experience with Assurant.

I was happy to do it, except, I didn't have time when they reached me the first time. So they called again. And again. And again. And again. And ... well you get the idea.

They finally reached me on SuperBowl Sunday. I was surprised. "Calling on Sunday?"

"Yep," was the sheepish reply.

"Not interested in providing feedback. Take me off of your survey list please."

Respect the people who do business with you. If you ask for their time, make it quick and get to the point. Don't call endlessly at odd times.

As Aretha Franklin said, R E S P E C T goes a long way in life and business. Listen to her and learn
